Turkey Day

This is what our Thanksgiving Day looked like this year.

Here's Em with her very own apple pie. She made it the night before. She rolled out the dough, made the filling, and filled the crust!

Here's Tom comin' out of the oven:

The pecan pies (and Em's apple pie):

Tom in all his glory:

The Spread (I love the centerpiece!):

And Em digging into her pie. Or, rather, the whipped cream on her pie:

'Twas a very good day. An excellent day full of good company and delicious food. We're blessed.

And oh, so thankful.

So Much for the Fence...

Maybe I should have saved this for Thanksgivingtime, but I couldn't resist. It's definitely relevant in light of all the immigration rhetoric/xenophobia that's been flying around. Besides, it's my birthday today, so I'm posting something that makes me smile (and laugh)!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm up pretty late, getting ready for tomorrow. I just finished a couple loads of laundry and put fresh, clean sheets on the bed. Emily's had a rough day today. I think she's cutting some more teeth.

Tomorrow we're off to Grandma & Grandpa Rivera's house (I act like it's hours away -- it's only a 7-minute drive! :-) for a yummy turkey feast. We're looking forward to it. Stephen's been working so much lately, that we're also really looking forward to his four days off. Stephen's so funny... he's planning on going to the gym in the morning so that he's good and ready to eat his dinner. He says he appreciates food and flavors much more after a good workout!

We might meet up with Mike & Kathy and Tim & Therese and families later this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
