Introducing Anna Philomena, our newest great-niece!! She was born last Tuesday (May 12th). It's amazing to me that we now have four great-nieces and -nephews (two of each!). Anna is the first child of Stephen's nephew, Michael. We're very happy for him and his new bride!
I saw this program featured on Oprah on Friday. Puppies Behind Bars is a program in which prison inmates (and I mean hardened criminals) train puppies to become service dogs for wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is such a touching and beautiful program; I bawled like a baby throughout the entire segment. Just ask Stephen if you don't believe me! (Okay, you already believe me. You probably don't need proof. ;-)Also on this particular episode are heartwarming stories about other animals (animals other than dogs) that have made a difference in people's lives. There's a story about a couple who took a female hippo into their home (they treat her like she's their daughter), and a young man who started raising a Grizzly bear from cubhood. All of these stories are sweet, warm and fuzzy. I recommend seeing them if you get a chance.I recorded the entire show on a DVD if anyone's interested in seeing it. Just don't say I didn't warn you about the waterworks!
One of my best friends, Angie, had her third child (a third baby girl) yesterday (May 13, 2009). The baby's name is Brenna Marie (I love that name!), and she, her mommy, daddy and big sisters live in Illinois. I miss them very much!! Aren't Mommy & Baby beautiful? Check out this video of her first cries. It's precious!Our nephew, Michael, and his wife, Moira, also had a baby girl this week (on May 12th, to be exact). And they live in Illinois, too! I'd post a picture here if I had one! The baby's name is Anna Philomena, and she sounds beautiful as well. (Of course.)Congratulations, Angie & Chris and Mike & Moira!
