Emily's Worst Day

Today was a verrrry lonnnnnng day. Daniel & Luke showed up at our doorstep this morning, just for a few minutes. Then they continued on to Ramona to begin helping Mom & Dad Lawless get a move-on to Duluth.

Daniel borrowed my 4-Runner, so Mom (Rivera) generously offered me her (brand-new!) Odyssey. That is one awesome mini-van! I think I may have blogged about this before in my old blog, so I won't go there again. :-) The only thing was that Zac & Grace had to be picked up from school, and Mom & Dad had to go to the airport to pick up Jaime & Ben, so Emmy & I made the (what's usually a half-hour) trek. I had to let Emily take her nap first though, and I also had to start some laundry, so by the time we got out the door it was already 2:00 p.m. Traffic had already started to collect, so it took us about 45 minutes to get to the school. We had to then go to Peeps' house to get the key to the kids' house, so they could get some clothes together in order to spend the weekend at Grandma's. By the time we left the area, it was already 3:15, and I got a tad lost, and of course by that point traffic was worse, so it took us an hour to get home, with my Emmy screaming the entire way!! Poor Grace did her best to entertain the baby and keep her happy, and it worked for the first 10 minutes or so. But boy, when that wore off, Emily sure was angry. She seriously did not quit crying until we parked at home and I took her out of her carseat!

We got home at around 4:15 p.m., and Daniel & Luke were already back from Ramona. Daniel was resting, napping on & off, and Luke was reading and watching TV. Grace was itching to go to the Hennessys' house (her former daycare and old friends of the family from St. Gabriel's), so I let her, and boy did she have a good time! She loves Dick & Jean, and their granddaughter Megan. Zac hung out here, and after Daniel got up, he played around with Zac and chatted with me for a bit. Much to my surprise, Stephen got off work at 4:30 (early!) and got home before 5:00. Then the Lawless men met here at 5:30, and off they went to Outback.

Emily's schedule was awfully screwed up today, so today was literally the *worst* day of her life! The poor thing was not a happy camper (as was illustrated above!). She was thrown off by all the activity of the day, and on top of that, I think she's teething some more, so those two things combined made for a very unhappy baby. She woke up a couple hours earlier than normal this morning and then only had a one-hour nap, so by the time 8:00 p.m. rolled around, she was EXHAUSTED. We left Grandma & Grandpa Rivera's at 9:30 and she of course concked out on the way home.

Mom Lawless was here at our house babysitting Luke while all the Lawless men went out for a night out on the town. ;-) Luke really is such a sweet kid, and Mom thought so, too. She said "he was so easy!" He was passed out on the futon in his Spiderman pajamas when Emily & I got home. Too cute! :-)

Now Mom (Lawless) is gone; Tim, Daniel & Stephen are chatting in the kitchen over coffee; Luke's still passed out in the living room; Emily's still concked out in her carseat (in her room); and I'm in my room, relaxing for the first time today!

Uh-oh, relaxing time is over. There's her (not-so-little) cry on the monitor. Time for a late-night feeding!
