Mexican Hot Dogs

My Mom makes these for me once in a blue moon. It's funny, because it seems like she'd make them more often (seeing as how they're tasty and easy to make), but for some reason she doesn't. Hmm... maybe she doesn't like them!

All it is is a hot dog wrapped in a corn tortilla and fried in a pan. (Stick a toothpick through the hot dog and tortilla to hold them together.) Put some cheese in there, and presto! You've got a Mexican hot dog.

I love these things. Again, not too good for you, but that's beside the point. :-)

So, what made you think of Mexican hot dogs today? For me, it was seeing the hot dogs at the grocery store and getting a craving. Since we were all sharing memories and pulling for Aunt Chila, I decided to share that particular memory with Lupe. How well do you know the Garcia clan???? They were having babies when you were born! I think that only two of the six are younger than I am, and Connie, the youngest, is Mona's age. Just wondering (27 1/2 ain't old, dear. Try 44 and going through surgically induced menopause. That will make you feel really old!).

You know what I love most about our culture? That even though we have so much in common, we still have so many differnt renditions of things. I have NEVER had a mexican hotdog!!! There are many things (mostly foods) your family has introduced me to that I have never tried or at least not in your sepcific form. I absolutely love it though!! I think it's great, some people might think its odd or wierd but I dont at all. The Mexicna hotdogs sound super yummy!!
