Defending Mel Gibson

I can't believe people are actually defending this guy. I suspect they're doing so because they've supported him and his religion/politics for so long, that to desert him now would mean admitting that they, too, were wrong (about his bigotry).

It also amazes me that many of these same people still hold a grudge against the
Dixie Chicks. (Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that they should forgive the Chicks, because the Chicks don't have anything that they need to be forgiven for!) Heaven forbid anyone say anything negative about that fool in the White House. Lead singer Natalie Maines criticizes Bush, and all her fans in the red states turn against her and her bandmates. Mel Gibson attacks an entire group of people (not to mention he addresses a female deputy by calling her "sugar tits"), and it's okay because "The guy was drunk, for heaven's sake." (I don't know about you, but I've been around many people when they were drunk, and none of them ever went off on anti-Semitic tirades, or any other bigoted tirades, for that matter.) Don't these people realize that alcohol is actually truth serum? Maybe they do, and they just don't care. Or better yet, maybe they do, and they actually AGREE with Gibson's "truth"!

Like Maines
said, if only she'd claimed she was drunk and checked herself into rehab back when she insulted the prez. Then all of the Chicks' woes would've ended long ago.

RIGHT.
