This is crazy! I never would've guessed. After eating this way, doesn't it seem like Phelps would get a cramp while swimming?
I remember when Stephen was trying to bulk up, he was put on a strict diet of 5,000 calories/day. It was really tough for him to eat that much, mainly because those calories had to come from lean, healthy foods (like lean meats, vegetables and carby foods like potatoes). He wasn't allowed to eat much fat, though, so he couldn't slather a ton of mayo on his ham sandwich, and he couldn't pile a ton of butter on his baked potato.
It looks like Michael Phelps does eat some pretty good stuff, though: fried eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, sandwiches smothered in mayonnaise, pizza, etc. (Yum!)
"Eat, sleep and swim, that's all I can do," said the US swimmer, after winning his 11th Olympic gold.
