Emily's preschool class celebrated Halloween on Halloween Eve. It was a delightful little party -- the kids paraded in their costumes and trick-or-treated around the school, they took a class picture, they listened to Halloween stories, and they feasted on Halloween goodies.
Grandma made awfully cute Halloween cookies to hand out to the kids (she found great cookie cutters at Williams-Sonoma when she was in New England; thanks, Grandma!), and we also made a Halloween cake to share. (The cake had black and orange sprinkles inside the batter, which was pretty neat; and we also put orange, black and purple sugar and sprinkles on the orange frosting.)
One child's father was quite generous and brought in Hallmark Halloween bears for everybody (Leah was even given one!), and another child's mother brought in really cute Halloween goody cups.

The kids all looked great. The twins were adorable little fairies, there were two tough pirates, and David (Emily's best friend) was Spiderman.

I was impressed by how much everyone helped out. Everyone's contributions helped make a fun party for the kids. These children are, of course, very lucky. Not all preschoolers have it so good.
